Why banana fibre?

Banana fibres are extracted from the layered trunks of cultivated banana trees. After harvesting, the fibres dry naturally in the sun for about a week, which produces the intense brown tone you see in the weave. Individual strips are then rolled into characteristic strands of roughly 6 mm thickness. Only old, dying banana trees are used for this material, giving the plant a second life as a dimensionally stable, robust raw material ideal for handcrafted baskets.

The natural plant fibres give the basket an authentic, earthy aroma and texture that complements natural and bohemian interiors.

Design & use

The KERSO basket’s roomy interior and sturdy construction make it a versatile storage solution: use it as a laundry basket in the bathroom or bedroom, as a decorative plant pot cover for larger potted plants, or as general storage for textiles, toys, or blankets. The integrated handles make it easy to move when full.
