Design and function

The long raffia fringes are the signature detail of KAWI, giving the lampshade a soft, flowing silhouette that becomes a focal point in any room. The loosely braided top allows light to escape in a decorative pattern, while an internal ring facilitates attachment of the bulb holder. A discrete metal frame reinforces the shape and ensures lasting stability.

Materials and origin

Raffia (Corypha utan) is a plant fiber sourced from Southeast Asia. Leaves are harvested, sun-dried and processed by hand to achieve the desired tone and flexibility. Raffia is valued for its pleasant natural feel, softness and robustness. The additional banana fibre complements the natural texture and appearance. Because raffia is relatively rare and labor-intensive to prepare, it is a premium material compared to other plant fibers.

Care and variability

Each lampshade is an individual, artisanal piece. Natural variations in color, texture and shape may occur due to the handcrafting process and the organic nature of the fibers. No harmful chemicals are used in production. Minor differences are a hallmark of authenticity and handmade quality.
