Product description

MENIK impresses with clear lines and a subtle boho aesthetic. The warm natural tones of rolled banana fibre contrast with the embroidered white cotton ribbons to create an elegant accent for any interior. Its compact, round shape makes it suitable for housing small potted plants, organizing household items, or simply adding texture to shelves and tabletops.

Materials & craft

These baskets are made from banana fibres harvested from the layered trunks of cultivated banana trees. The fibres develop their intense brown color naturally after being sun-dried for about a week. Individual strips are then rolled into characteristic strands approximately 6 mm thick. Only old, non-productive banana trees are used, giving the material a second life as a durable, dimensionally stable raw material for handcrafted baskets.

Because each basket is crafted by hand, slight variations in size, color and shape are to be expected — these differences are part of the product's natural charm.

Origin & ethical production

Handmade in Java, Indonesia. We work with local producers who ensure fair pay and safe working conditions. Only experienced adult artisans are employed, no harmful chemicals are used in production, and nearly all steps are carried out by hand, minimizing greenhouse gas emissions. We verify these standards through regular on-site visits and ongoing personal contact with our partners.
