Practical use
The sturdy woven construction makes the TANIMBAR basket surprisingly robust and somewhat heavy, which contributes to its premium feel. Materials & origin
Main material: Water hyacinth. Water hyacinth is a tropical aquatic plant originally from South America and also common in Southeast Asia. It can proliferate rapidly and form dense mats on water surfaces. For processing, the leaves are removed and the thick stems are sun-dried for three to seven days, yielding strong raw fibers suitable for weaving a wide range of handcrafted goods by Soeji.

Production & ethics
This basket is handmade in Java, Indonesia. We select partner workshops that provide fair pay and safe working conditions. All production steps are carried out by skilled artisans using manual techniques; no harmful chemicals are used. Because the work is predominantly handcraft, the production process generates very low greenhouse gas emissions. We maintain ongoing on-site oversight and regular communication with our manufacturing partners to ensure standards are met.
