Sustainability & production: Banana fibre is a renewable plant fibre harvested from banana trees. The fibrous bark is collected, sun-dried and processed into roughly 6 mm strands that are handwoven by our production partners in Java. We work exclusively with small family businesses (20–30 employees), prioritizing fair pay, safe working conditions and the preservation of traditional craftsmanship. Hand production minimizes greenhouse gas emissions and supports local communities, especially older artisans who rely on handicrafts for income.
