Materials & feel

The main material is water hyacinth, a fast-growing tropical aquatic plant. The leaves are removed and the thick stems are sun-dried for three to seven days before weaving, producing a sustainable raw material with authentic natural scent and texture. Cotton thread is used for the decorative and reinforcing pattern.

Water hyacinth is abundant and often considered invasive in many waterways. Harvesting and processing it for woven goods provides an environmentally responsible use for this plant. The manual production process minimizes greenhouse gas emissions, and no harmful chemicals are used.
