Harvesting and processing water hyacinth for woven goods provides a sustainable use for this abundant plant. Leaves are removed and the thick stems are sun-dried for three to seven days before being prepared for weaving. The result is a renewable, plant-based raw material with a natural look, scent, and tactile quality.
