Our ALOR magazine rack is lovingly handcrafted from sturdy rattan fibers with fine woven detailing. Materials & sustainability
Material: Natural rattan. Rattan is a rapidly renewable resource harvested from climbing palms in Indonesia. Branches and trunks are cut by hand without harming surrounding trees, then dried and processed. The inner core of the branches is used for structural elements, while the bark is cut into strips for delicate wickerwork. Because rattan palms require healthy forest ecosystems, rattan production supports local incentives to preserve natural habitats.
Production & fair trade
The ALOR racks are handcrafted by skilled artisans using traditional techniques in Java and West Java, Indonesia. We work exclusively with small family-run workshops, emphasize fair wages, safe working conditions and reasonable hours, and support older artisans who can no longer work in agriculture. All work steps are performed by hand, keeping greenhouse gas emissions low and preserving local craft traditions.
