The shelf is made from durable, sustainably sourced rattan. Rattan is a fast-renewing material harvested from climbing palms in Indonesian tropical forests. Harvesting is done by hand without damaging surrounding trees. Using rattan supports local communities and encourages preservation of natural forest ecosystems. A thin protective finish is applied to the finished product to enhance durability while preserving the natural look.

Each BANTEN shelf is handcrafted by skilled artisans on Java, Indonesia, using traditional techniques. Our production partners are selected according to fair trade principles: fair pay, safe working conditions, reasonable hours, and mostly small family-run workshops. This approach supports older artisans and helps transmit traditional craft skills to younger generations.

Care and mounting:

• Wipe clean with a dry or slightly damp cloth; avoid prolonged exposure to direct moisture.

Shipping and packaging:

We ship from our warehouse in Germany using DHL. Packaging is plastic-free and designed to protect the handcrafted shelf during transit. Typical delivery within the EU is 2–5 working days.
