Main material: Banana Fibre

These mirrors are made from plant fibers and therefore carry the natural smell and feel of the material. Banana fibres are taken from the layered trunks of cultivated banana trees. When the fibres are sun-dried for about a week, an intense brown color develops naturally. Individual strips are then rolled into characteristic strands approximately 6 mm thick. Only old or dying banana trees are used for this material, giving these plants a second life as a sturdy, dimensionally stable raw material for handcrafted products.

This mirror is handmade in Java, Indonesia. In selecting our local producers we prioritize fair pay and good working conditions. We work only with adult, experienced artisans and do not use harmful chemicals in the manufacturing process. Since every step is carried out by hand, the production generates hardly any greenhouse gas emissions. We maintain these standards through regular on-site visits and ongoing personal contact with our partner workshops.
