The VARNA placemat stands out with its accurate square cut, differing from more common round or rectangular designs. Each piece is crafted from flexible, soft seagrass leaves that are separated, cut into strips, dried and hand-tied into a radial pattern. The result is a natural, warm ambience and a unique tactile surface that enhances any dining arrangement without overpowering it.

In basketry, “seagrass” commonly refers to a small, palm-like coastal plant found on tropical Asian beaches. The leaves are cultivated, cut into strips, dried and then skillfully processed by hand.
